As a journalist, Katie has traveled the world chasing stories and residing in places like Abu Dhabi with her fiancé Ben. But when it came time to plan their wedding, the University of Pennsylvania grads sought the comforts of home—Katie’s parents’ home of St. Michaels, Maryland to be exact. The couple spent many a weekend in the quaint Eastern Shore town while living in D.C., and knew it would provide the perfect backdrop for the elegant yet relaxed celebration we helped them plan. As a nod to the maritime culture of St. Michaels, we contrasted brilliant whites with hints of dusty blue and gold to create a scene that perfectly complemented the venue’s coastal vibe. The rain prohibited the planned outdoor ceremony and open views of the water from the sweeping tent, but the resilient bride and groom didn’t let that put a damper on the celebration they simply described as fun!
