Kate and Jeremy wanted to keep things comfortable, cheerful and elegant at their southern-style open-seating reception featuring all the food stations! Following the ceremony at St. Mary’s Church in downtown Annapolis, guests arrived to historic Whitehall Manor where they were met with a plethora of ambiances and scenery. Cocktails in an open field with a custom-built trellis bar led to dinner and dancing inside the sailcloth reception tent featuring a variety of table setups and lounge vignettes—all overlooking the gorgeous waters of Whitehall Creek. Food stations with everything from a risotto bar to carved meats to an Asian noodle bar cycled out throughout the evening, allowing guests to mix and mingle all night long. “One guest said they felt like they were at a dinner party in our living room, which we were thrilled about,” says bride Kate. Those personal touches weaved through everything from the getting ready location (the bride’s parents’ home in Annapolis) to the custom illustrations that adorned napkins, pillows, coasters, and even the ring bearers’ ties. It wasn’t exactly a stress-free week leading up to Kate and Ben’s wedding day. With a hurricane set to head up the coast and stall over the area, the couple was forced into a tough decision—change the venue from Ben’s family’s house to a safer option or stick with the original plan and hope for the best. It might have been an easier decision if the venue wasn’t so intrinsically linked to Kate and Ben’s story. They first met at this property a few years prior, when Ben hosted a summer weekend there and Kate tagged along with a friend. Everything about their beginning was linked to this property, so much so that they branded the wedding around it—with everything from the Save the Dates to the cocktail napkins to the welcome bags bearing the house’s emblem. So they left it up to fate and hoped for the best. And the best is what they received! What was originally forecasted to be a day of nonstop rain and flooding turned into something out of a dream—completely clear skies capped with the most amazing Eastern Shore sunset. The day unfolded perfectly, with all of the thoughtful touches—like custom monogrammed napkins, mini tennis racket escort cards (the bride and groom are avid players), “His, Hers and Maggie (their dog)” signature drinks—showing off perfectly at the place where it all began. There’s no cozier place around the holidays than The Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels, especially when you’re looking to host an intimate wedding! As brisk winds whipped off the water outside, guests enjoyed a warm candlelit reception inside one of the Inn’s quaint event rooms with the bride and groom. Keeping with a traditional holiday look, we layered hunter green velvet napkins with scalloped gold-rimmed plates, driftwood chargers, gold flatware and deep red menus to create a warm and festive scene on the long king’s table—where all the guests dined together. Lush rouge blooms, soft-lit candles and the cutest plaid-wrapped favor boxes completed the merry scene on a very merry day!
