When the bride wants to elope and the groom wants a (semi) traditional wedding, what else is there to do but compromise? For Erica and Dave, compromise came in the form of an intimate, 90-guest wedding at the waterfront Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels—a relaxed setting that reminded the couple of Erica’s family home in New England.
With our help, the DC-based couple found inspiration in the shades of the sea but with a funky, fresh twist. Think electric blue brushed linens; custom watercolor illustrations on everything from the invitations to the ceremony programs to the escort board monogram; ginger jars from the bride’s vintage collection on the reception tables and at the ceremony site; and the bride’s custom ocean blue-bodiced Modern Trousseau gown.
There was no shortage of meaningful touches either. Erica and Dave handpicked books to exchange during their first look—a book of modern love poems from him, a hiking guide from her. And perhaps the most special detail of all, Erica’s dad wrote an original song that the ceremony musicians learned for their processional. It was a day full of fun, laughter and lasting memories. A joyful, colorful and eclectic affair with a lot of personality.
