It wasn’t exactly a stress-free week leading up to Kate and Ben’s wedding day. With a hurricane set to head up the coast and stall over the area, the couple was forced into a tough decision—change the venue from Ben’s family’s house to a safer option or stick with the original plan and hope for the best. It might have been an easier decision if the venue wasn’t so intrinsically linked to Kate and Ben’s story. They first met at this property a few years prior, when Ben hosted a summer weekend there and Kate tagged along with a friend. Everything about their beginning was linked to this property, so much so that they branded the wedding around it—with everything from the Save the Dates to the cocktail napkins to the welcome bags bearing the house’s emblem. So they left it up to fate and hoped for the best. And the best is what they received! What was originally forecasted to be a day of nonstop rain and flooding turned into something out of a dream—completely clear skies capped with the most amazing Eastern Shore sunset. The day unfolded perfectly, with all of the thoughtful touches—like custom monogrammed napkins, mini tennis racket escort cards (the bride and groom are avid players), “His, Hers and Maggie (their dog)” signature drinks—showing off perfectly at the place where it all began.
