We do so many waterfront weddings, it’s easy to get stuck on the color blue (which seems to be what EVERYONE wants this year!). And while we absolutely adore layering water tones with neutrals—because it always turns out gorgeous, duh!—every now and then we need to push ourselves creatively to get out of the rut. Enter this fun tablescape that’s a tad feminine, a tad modern, and a whole lot of pretty! We’ve been literally trying to convince every client to use this black flatware from DC Rental because we’re totally obsessed. So, naturally, we had to use it on this design. From there, we wanted to steer away from basically all things traditional, so we opted for hand-lettered placemats in lieu of a table linen, used a fun triangular napkin fold (that came to us on the spot!), and incorporated modern accents like black votives and vellum menus. We’re obsessed!
D.C. residents Kathleen and Matt wanted their engagement photos to be as timeless and romantic as their upcoming wedding day, so we kept the vibe super classic for their portraits at the D.C. War Memorial—a scaled down version of the Jefferson Memorial without the crowds! We let the setting take center stage, bringing in a few subtle accents like a simply styled Save the Date, a gorgeous bouquet that fit perfectly with the blush, grey and dusty blue color palette, and, of course, a little rosé bubbly! Everything flowed as beautifully as Kathleen’s drapey Morning Lavender skirt, and the captures by Elizabeth Fogarty were nothing short of dreamy! See more from this feature over on Style Me Pretty!
Being based on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, we’re constantly finding new ways to reinvent “nautical.” For our spring studio tablescape, we wanted to add a little bit of a modern twist to the classic navy and white color palette, bringing in square plates from Eastern Shore Tents & Events, geometric place card holders from Esselle and a fun patterned napkin from La Tavola Fine Linen. We think it’s the perfect mix of classic and modern, all gorgeously captured by Lauren R. Swann! See more over on Fashionable Hostess!
